Formation Type Foundry
Ever since learning about Graphic Design, I've had a keen eye and nerdy interest in type and typography. I created my first digital typeface back in 1995 as part of my final Degree project, which I proudly got to use for a client in my first job, for BT. Since then, as a professional designer I've used a huge range of fonts over the years – but there's nothing quite like 'growing your own'.
I set up Formation Type Foundry in 2012, to create new and innovative typefaces. I'm increasingly inspired by forms found in nature and this is often the starting point for my graphic and type design experimentation – and now being based in Corris, in the wilds of the Dyfi Valley in Wales, I'm constantly inspired by my surroundings.
The great thing about type design is the creative potential of what they'll be used for. I'm as excited to see what other designers do with my fonts as I am creating them, so let’s push things forward.
